How to choose a mouse — full guide
Wireless or wired, DPI, sensor, ergonomics and buttons — everything that matters, explained simply.
Wireless vs. wired
A modern wireless (2.4G) mouse has practically the same latency as a wired one, plus freedom of movement and a tidy desk. Bluetooth is handy for laptop/tablet (no receiver), while the cable stays the safest option for charging and non-stop gaming. Ideally you want all three — 2.4G, Bluetooth and cable — so you can switch as needed.
DPI and the sensor
DPI = how far the cursor moves for the same hand motion. More isn't automatically better: 800–1600 DPI is perfect for office, while for gaming a precise sensor and quick DPI-button switching matter most. A good mouse offers several DPI steps you can change instantly.
Ergonomics, weight, buttons
A shape that fits your hand matters more than any number. A light mouse (under 70g) is less tiring in long sessions. Extra programmable buttons save you time — especially if you can customize them in software (macros, shortcuts, DPI).
